Introduction Thank you for your interest in the On-Campus Recruitment Program at Queens University of Charlotte. Employers hire our students, graduates and alumni annually because of their qualifications and our comprehensive services. We ask that you read carefully the guidelines and expectations below and sign the statement indicating that you will comply with these guidelines in order to participate in on-campus recruiting.
On-Campus Interviews and Locations Employers may schedule on-campus interviews for the 2006-2007 academic year between: Fall Semester: October 2, 2006 – December 7, 2006 Spring Semester: January 10, 2007 –April 23, 2007
Please follow the steps below to schedule your campus interviews with the Internship and Career Programs (ICP) office located in Blair House. Interviews may be 30 minutes or 1 hour, depending on the employer.
1. Contact Nancy Ryan, administrative assistant, at 704-337-2337, ryann@queens.edu or visit our Internship and Career Programs webpage “Students”section. 2. Post your resume on eCampus Recruiter by visiting the Internships and Career Programs office webpage under the “Students”. 3. View the job description and on-campus postings on our webpage under eCampus Recruiter to research the company and prepare for the interview. It is important that you review the company website and learn as much as you can about the employer. Also, please prepare questions for the recruiter before the interview. 4. You may schedule mock interviews with any staff member prior to the interview day and we strongly advise this if you have not completed the World of Work class.
Interview Attire Dress professionally. Although the interviews are held on campus, recruiters expect job candidates to be dressed in dark business suits, white to light shirts or blouses, polished shoes with conservative accessories, such as neck ties and minimal jewelry and/or colognes. When in doubt, please contact an ICP staff member for recommendations. Always bring copies of your resume with you to the interview in a professional portfolio with a writing pen.
No-Show Policy Sometimes circumstances exist that might cause you to cancel an interview. Last minute cancellations (less than one week notice) or ‘no-shows” are extremely unprofessional however, and are viewed negatively by the employer and ICP office. If students cancel at the last minute or are ‘no-shows”, we ask that student to write a letter of apology to the employer and submit a copy to the director. If a student misses a second interview, that student will be banned from any future on-campus interviews. Please remember that you are representing you and Queens University of Charlotte.
Accepting Job Offers While we do not place any restrictions on when employers may extend job offers, we strongly encourage students to ponder and make an informed decision about the job offers once extended. However, please accept or reject the job offer within two weeks of the offer. Please inform the ICP office once you do accept the offer. Also, ask for the offer in writing from the employer.
