This study tour will focus on the culture and commerce of the United Kingdom and the Irish Republic, including visits to London, Dublin and Edinburgh. The tour will begin in London, where students will take in such noted historical sites as Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London, explore the incredible artifacts of the British Museum and the National Gallery, as well as visit the office of the US commercial attaché. Students will also have opportunities to explore the arts and theater of this vibrant and exciting city on their own. The tour next moves to the rolling hills of North Wales, to visit the historic castles of Caernarfon and Conwy, and explore and hike in the mountains and passes of Snowdonia. From Wales, a ferry will take the tour to Dublin, where students will be able to see and experience the re-invention and rise of the Irish economy, the “miracle of the European Union.” In addition to meetings with various locals involved in this development, students will also experience the historical and cultural attractions of Dublin. From Dublin, a day-trip to Belfast, will allow students to see how recent events have impacted this strife-ridden city. The tour will conclude in Edinburgh, Scotland, where students can experience Edinburgh’s famous “Royal Mile,” as well as visits to other historic sites including Edinburgh Castle and a ghost tour of Edinburgh.
>There is a $450 program supplement charged for this study tour. For participants who pay their own expenses, the cost – inclusive except for lunches, most dinners, and incidentals – is $3300.
